CARS! (screamed in a Capt. Kirk voice)

I don't know who I pissed off, maybe St. Frances.   But for a little over the past month we have had nothing but car trouble.  First the AC died in my car.  Found out it was going to be major $$ to fix so we decided not to.  But took it in for an oil change, transmission fluid change, etc.  Then it wouldn't start!

In the meantime, hubby drove his car off a culvert in the dark and bent a motor support.  Fortunately, that wasn't too bad-fixed quick and cheap.  And the guy who fixed it even put some coolant in his AC system and he had air again!  It won't last, but it was the best $20 we ever spent on that car.  So it's been running like a champ until a couple of days ago when it started missing, bad.  Took it in and it could be a spark plug or it could be a $200+ job.  Won't know until the mechanic gets into it.

We decide to wait until I get paid at least one more time (maybe twice more since the rent is due out of this check) and instead get a battery for my car.  My dad, who is pretty knowledgeable about cars, firmly believed all it needed was a battery.  It would start if you jumped it off, but you had to jump it every time you wanted to drive it.  Took it to Auto Zone and the guy that helped get the old battery out agreed that a battery should fix it.  And he was quite impressed with the condition of the engine.  Said if it was his car he would put the $$ into fixing the AC because he thought the car had a lot of life in it yet.

Well, evidently the car didn't agree with those two assessments.  I drove it to work today and about half way there I had to stop for a garbage truck.  The car died.  It started again, but it sounded funny and the brake light was on all the way from the house.  I'm *praying* it's just something funky like the computer needs to be reset after the battery being dead so long.  I'll even settle for it being the alternator.

Oh and if it wasn't enough that both cars are malfunctioning, the freaking lawn mower died yesterday too.

Seriously, who did I piss off?  Why are the mechanical gods out to get me?

If you know anybody that has a car for sale, send them my way.  The only requirements I have are:  it has to run, well and without any up front repairs needed.  I would really really really prefer an automatic, but in a pinch I can drive a stick.  I would also like it to have AC, but since it's about to be cold weather, a good heater is more important right now.  The cheaper the better, so an older car than runs good is perfect.

If you don't know anybody with a car for sale, say a little prayer to St. Frances for me, will you?

Chaos theory explained by a Geek Princess

Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

I haven't yet figured out how to reboot my life, but this philosophy works pretty well on all things tech.

I've learned to enjoy the chaos though and just try to hang on. It's always something new and different so at least I'm never bored.
